This large standing vase draws inspiration from Henri Matisse's Intérieur aux Aubergines painting (1911) by borrowing its color palette. The rounded flowers found on the floor of the painting are thus transformed into wooden beads, giving this large standing vase a sophisticated and timeless look.

Available in 3 different sizes, it can also become a unique design set that plays with volume when combined with its other versions.

Arts and materials

Entirely handmade in Italy, the large standing vase brings together various artisanal techniques by marrying metal, wood and glass, giving it its unique character. The Septembre vase combines metallic finishes with beaded wood, giving it a unique and modern look. It can be easily cleaned thanks to its removable clear glass container that slips inside the structure. The base of the vase is covered in felt so it can be placed on any surface without damaging it.

Inspiration

Part of a collection of pieces designed by Cristina Celestino, the Septembre vase completes a decorative universe from furniture to accessories. This vase draws inspiration from Henri Matisse's Intérieur aux Aubergines, in particular by recreating the round shapes of the sculptures and pottery depicted in the work. Its beaded finishes thus reveal an intimate and feminine character.

For the permanent collection Intérieur aux aubergines, Maison Matisse was inspired by Henri Matisse's eponymous painting from 1911 and collaborated with the Italian designer Cristina Celestino. This choice seemed self-evident. The designer’s world is perfectly adapted to that of the artist’s painting in this particularly decorative canvas where the planes deeply superimpose each other.
